| Class
Refund & Material Return Policies |
Live
classes
CLS Refund Policy:
- Students
who enroll for a class that fails to run due to insufficient enrollment
will be refunded in full in the same manner in which they paid,
e.g. credit card will be credited, if they used a check then a
check for the same amount will be mailed to the billing address
provided, etc. In addition, books will be refunded in full as
well and CLS will make arrangements for the books to be returned.
- Students
who enroll for a class and drop out prior to the start date of
that class will be refunded for the course tuition cost. Materials (Books, DVDs, VHS, Audiotapes) may be returned to
CLS within 15 days for a refund less the cost of shipping.
- No refunds
will be given after the first class meeting. Materials (Books, DVDs, VHS, Audiotapes) may be returned
to CLS within 15 days for a refund less the cost of shipping.
*** In order for
students to receive a full refund on their Materials (Books, DVDs, VHS, Audiotapes), the materials must be
returned in the same condition in which they were received, i.e. no
markings, highlighting, water stains, still in shrink wrap, etc.
Online Classes
CLS Refund Policy:
- Students
who enroll for a class and drop out by the Wednesday prior
to the start date of that class will be refunded in full.
Materials (Books, DVDs, VHS, Audiotapes) may be returned to CLS within 15 days for a refund less the cost of shipping.
- Students
who drop out between the Thursday prior to the class starting
and the first Thursday of class will receive a 50% refund
on tuition. Materials (Books, DVDs, VHS, Audiotapes) may be returned to CLS within 15 days for a refund less the
cost of shipping.
- Students
who drop out of the class after the first Thursday of the first
week of class will receive no refund on tuition. Materials (Books, DVDs, VHS, Audiotapes) may
be returned to CLS within 15 days for a refund less the cost of shipping.
Independent Study Classes
CLS Refund Policy:
- Students
have 15 days from the date they register for the DVD, VHS,
or text-only courses to drop the class and receive a full refund.
Materials (Books, DVDs, VHS, Audiotapes) must be received
by CLS in new condition prior to the 15 day deadline to receive
a full refund. Books may be returned to CLS within 15 days for a refund less
the cost of shipping.
- If students
drop the class after 15 days from registration date, no
refund will be issued. Materials (Books, DVDs, VHS, Audiotapes) may be returned to CLS within 15 days for a refund
less the cost of shipping.

| Holdover
Policy |
As you may already
know, in order to receive your certificate, you must attend at least
80% of the classes as well as pass all of your exams and writing assignments
with a 70% or better. If you fail to pass an assignment, you will
be given a make-up assignment. If you do not complete the necessary
make-up assignments during the course duration, you will need to submit
all make up work directly to:

Please be advised there will be a $25 administrative fee for each assignment submitted to our office in Golden. Payment may
be made by check, money order, or credit card. You have 60 days from
the last day of class to submit all make-up work along with the appropriate
fees in order to receive your certificate. Failure to do so will result
in a failing grade, no certificate will be issued, and you will have
to re-enroll at the full tuition price. Any questions regarding this

| Course
Format Change and Transfer Policy |
Students may
change course formats after they have already participated if they
meet the following requirements:
- They have
no outstanding balance.
- They submit
a format change fee equal to half of the tuition fee.
- They return
all course materials from the prior course format (videos, tests,
etc..)
Students are responsible
for any book fees applicable to the new format.
If students have not participated at all, they may switch course formats
if they meet the following requirements:
- They have
no outstanding balance.
- They return
all course materials from the prior course format (videos, tests,
etc..)
For live lecture
courses, a transfer fee will also apply for students who wish to
transfer their live lecture class to a different session. |
| Plagiarism
Policy |
It is the policy
of the Center for Legal Studies that all work submitted for assessment
purposes must be the independent work of the student concerned, and
shall be the result of their own thought, research, and expression.
Instances of cheating and/or plagiarism are regarded as serious offenses
and will not be tolerated.
Examples include, but are not limited to:
- Submission
of assignments based on ideas, organization, wording, etc., from
any other source and alleged to be the student's own achievement.
- Submission
of assignments produced by, or with, the assistance of another,
and alleged to be the student’s independent achievement.
- Knowingly
assisting another in the submission of work falsely alleged to
be the student’s independent achievement.
- Altering
previous submissions, graded or otherwise, without instructor
approval/request.
- Copying or
paraphrasing material/text, without proper acknowledgment/citation,
from any of the following sources:
- the work
of another student; or
- any published
source; or
- the Internet;
or
- judicial
opinions; or
- other forms
of legal authority; or
- sample
briefs; or
- other legal
writing; or
- Etc.
The student should
note that cheating and plagiarism are easily identified and demonstrated,
and any instances of such conduct will result in serious disciplinary
action, including expulsion from the program, at the discretion of
the instructor. |
| Certificate
Replacement Policy |
All requests
for replacement certificates are subject to a $40 processing
fee.

| Class
Auditing Policy |
| Former students
may audit whatever class they originally registered for. They must
audit the course in the original format they took it (e.g. live students
must audit a live course) and they must audit the course through the
school they originally registered for (e.g. Auburn students must audit
a class at Auburn). There will also be a $50 fee to audit any of the
courses. Students will have one calendar year from the date the original
course began to audit the course. |
