Live Classes

CLS Refund Policy:

  • All refund requests must be submitted in writing. Click Here to send your request.
  • Early registration is encouraged and must be completed no later than 5 business days prior to scheduled start date.  All tuition fees become non-refundable 5 business days prior to the scheduled start date.
  • Students who enroll for a class that fails to run due to insufficient enrollment will be refunded in full in the same manner in which they paid (e.g. credit card will be credited; check payments will be refunded by check and mailed to the billing address provided, etc.). In addition, books purchased from CLS will be refunded in full and CLS will make arrangements for the books to be returned to our office.
  • Students are responsible for any shipping fees incurred for returning books not purchased from CLS.
  • Students who wish to withdraw from a class must do so at least 5 business days prior to the scheduled class start date and will be refunded the course tuition fee, less a non-refundable $50 administrative fee. Materials in new condition may be returned to CLS within 30 days from the date of purchase for a refund less the cost of shipping. A copy of your packing slip must be included with your return.

No refunds will be given after the class roster has officially been created (5 business days before the scheduled class start date) and the class has been identified as “running”. Materials in new condition may be returned to CLS within 30 days from the date of purchase for a refund less the cost of shipping.

Online Classes

  • Students who drop out between the Thursday prior to the class starting and the first Thursday of class will receive a 50% refund on tuition. Books may be returned to CLS within 30 days from the date of purchase for a refund less the cost of shipping. A copy of your packing slip must be included with your return.
  • Students who drop out of the class after the first Thursday of the first week of class will receive no refund on tuition. Books may be returned to CLS within 30 days from the date of purchase for a refund less the cost of shipping. A copy of your packing slip must be included with your return.

Self-Study Classes

  • Students have 15 days from the date they register for the self-study format courses to drop the class and receive a full refund, less a non-refundable $100 administrative fee.   • If students drop the class after 15 days from registration date, no refund will be issued. Materials in salable condition (Books, print packets) may be returned to CLS within 30 days from the date of purchase for a refund less the cost of shipping. A copy of your packing slip must be included with your return.

CLS Extension Policy

  • Students who fail to finish the course in the allotted time may choose to extend their course access in one month increments at the rate of $150 per month.  Payment must be made to CLS 2 weeks prior to completion deadline and the monies paid before the time is extended. Paralegal students are limited to 3 one-month extensions; Legal Nurse students are limited to 2 one-month extensions. Extension fees are non-refundable.  Click Here to send your request.

Text Only Classes

  • Students have 30 days from the date they register for the text-only courses to drop the class and receive a full refund, less a non-refundable $100 administrative fee. Materials (Books, print packets) must be received by CLS in new condition prior to the 30 day deadline to receive a full refund. Books may be returned to CLS within 30 days from the date of purchase for a refund less the cost of shipping. A copy of your packing slip must be included with your return.
  • If students drop the class after 30 days from registration date, no refund will be issued. Materials in salable condition (Books, print packets) may be returned to CLS within 30 days from the date of purchase for a refund less the cost of shipping. A copy of your packing slip must be included with your return.

*** In order for students to receive a full refund on their Materials (Books, print packets), the materials must be returned in the same condition in which they were received, i.e. no markings, highlighting, water stains, still in shrink wrap, etc. Failure to return material in a new salable condition constitutes your irrevocable and unconditional final acceptance of the materials.

Book Return Policy

Printed hard copy textbooks may be returned within 30 days of the date of purchase. Shipping fees are non-refundable unless the return is due to a live lecture course being cancelled. Textbooks must be in new, perfect condition with no writing or marks of any kind. Textbooks that are no longer in print or are an outdated edition may not be returned for a credit. Items in shrink wrap are non-refundable once they have been opened. A copy of your packing slip must be included with your return. Students are responsible for the cost of return shipping.

E-book editions of textbooks are non-refundable once the license key has been activated.  E-books may be refunded within 10 days from the purchase so long as they have not been activated.  Requests for refunds of e-books should be sent to [email protected]

No items will be accepted after 30 days.

We recommend that you insure the package when returning items, as we will not refund books that are lost or damaged in shipping. The books need to be packaged carefully, with adequate padding, tape, etc; as shipping insurance will not pay a claim if they deem the packaging to be insufficient.  CLS will not refund for any damaged books returned to our office. Please include a copy of your invoice or packing slip with your return.  Once the books are received, inspected, accepted, and put back in to inventory, a refund for the cost of the books will be credited to the credit card used for the purchase within 7-10 business days. Shipping is non-refundable.

Westlaw Access Refund Policy

Westlaw access is non-refundable upon receipt of the Westlaw registration key.  Requests for Westlaw access refunds should be sent to [email protected]


 

Holdover Policy – Live Lecture format

As you may already know, in order to receive your certificate, you must attend at least 80% of the classes as well as pass all of your exams and writing assignments with a 70% or better. If you fail to pass an assignment, you will be given a make-up assignment. If you do not complete the necessary make-up assignments during the course duration, you will need to submit all make up work directly to:

Please be advised there will be a $25 administrative fee for each assignment submitted after a live course ends. Payment may be made by check, money order, or credit card. You have 60 days from the last day of class to submit all make-up work along with the appropriate fees in order to receive your certificate. Failure to do so will result in a failing grade, no certificate will be issued, and you will have to re-enroll at the full tuition price. Students may change course formats after they have already participated if they meet the following requirements:

  • They have no outstanding balance.
  • They submit a format change fee equal to half of the tuition fee.
  • They return all course materials from the prior course format (print packets, tests, etc..)
  • It has not been more than 30 days since the course start date.

Students are responsible for any book fees applicable to the new format.

If students have not participated at all, they may switch course formats if they meet the following requirements:

  • They have no outstanding balance.
  • They return all course materials from the prior course format (print packets, tests, etc..)
  • It has not been more than 30 days since the course start date.

For live lecture courses, a transfer fee will also apply for students who wish to transfer their live lecture class to a different session.


Course Conduct and Plagiarism Policy

All students are required to conduct themselves with academic integrity and ethical behavior at all times maintaining an academic environment suitable for learning. It is the policy of CLS by BARBRI that all work submitted for assessment purposes must be the independent work of the student concerned, and shall be the result of their own thought, research, and expression. Instances of cheating and/or plagiarism are regarded as serious offenses and will not be tolerated.

Examples include, but are not limited to:

  • Submission of assignments based on ideas, organization, wording, etc., from any other source and alleged to be the student’s own achievement.
  • Submission of assignments produced by, or with, the assistance of another, and alleged to be the student’s independent achievement.
  • Knowingly assisting another in the submission of work falsely alleged to be the student’s independent achievement.
  • Altering previous submissions, graded or otherwise, without instructor approval/request.
  • Copying or paraphrasing material/text, without proper acknowledgment/citation, from any of the following sources:
  • the work of another student; or
  • any published source; or
  • the Internet; or
  • judicial opinions; or
  • other forms of legal authority; or
  • sample briefs; or
  • other legal writing; or
  • Etc.

The student should note that cheating and plagiarism are easily identified and demonstrated, and any instances of such conduct will result in serious disciplinary action at the discretion of the instructor, including expulsion from the program and no monies will be refunded to you. Students who are expelled from CLS courses due to plagiarism violations are prohibited from taking any CLS courses.


All course materials are the property of the textbook publishers, authors, instructors, or CLS by BARBRI. These materials are subject to full protection under the provisions found in Title 17, Section 5 of the United States Code (17 U.S.C. § 5), otherwise known as Copyright Law of the United States, and as such, all rights are reserved to the owner thereof. In addition, the Digital Millennium Copyright Act makes it illegal to download, disseminate, or share copyrighted materials.

“Course materials” are defined to include the following:

  • Course Syllabi
  • Assignments, Exercises, Quizzes, Tests and answers
  • Instructor notes, feedback, forum postings and email messages
  • Supplemental materials including, but not limited to samples, slide presentations, text notes, written lectures, study materials, diagrams, maps, and drawings
  • Recordings, including, but not limited to: audio, video, podcasts, webcasts, web meetings, webinars, web and VoIP, cell and phone conferences

Copyright infringement subjects the offender to civil and, where applicable, criminal liability, and federal courts within the United States have awarded significant financial damages to those found to have breached those rights in and for academic settings. CLS by BARBRI takes seriously the intellectual property rights of all authors, instructors and publishers, and strictly forbids students violating those rights in any fashion.

  • All course materials as described above are copyright protected.
  • Students have an obligation to protect, to the best of their ability, the rights of all copyright owners as described above, and to report to their instructor any violation, known or discovered, that breaches those rights.
  • Students shall be in violation of the owner’s rights and obligations described above if they arrange, participate in, facilitate, or ratify any known activity which may constitute a violation of any of the above. This includes participating in a violation committed by another such as viewing, copying or purchasing the information as it is made available online through anyone other than the copyright holders as described above.
  • Students may not reproduce, publish, copy, share, distribute, post to the internet, or cause to be disseminated, electronically or otherwise, any of the course materials as described above.
  • Students may not publish, copy, share, distribute, post to the internet, or cause to be disseminated, electronically or otherwise, their own writing samples, document preparation, answers, reasoning, or legal analysis generated as a direct result of work assigned through course materials without the express written permission of their instructor.
  • It is the student’s responsibility and obligation to seek clarification if there is anything in the above that they do not comprehend well enough to ensure that they do not inadvertently or unknowingly commit a violation of any of the above.

Students who violate any of the above shall be immediately expelled from the course with no tuition refund. Students who violate any of the above are prohibited from taking any CLS courses in the future. CLS reserves the right to pursue legal action if any of our material is posted online at any time. Any such violations may be submitted to the academic institution through which the student enrolled, thus becoming a permanent part of the student’s academic record and subjecting said student to further action as the school deems appropriate.


Certificate Replacement Policy

All requests for replacement certificates are subject to a $40 processing fee.

Class Auditing Policy

Former students may audit whatever class they originally registered for. They must audit the course in the original format they took it (e.g. live students must audit a live course) and they must audit the course through the school they originally registered for (e.g. Auburn students must audit a class at Auburn). There will also be a $250 fee to audit any of the courses. Students will have one calendar year from the date the original course began to audit the course.
