Our paralegal certificate course comes in various formats to accommodate different schedules. These include the following:

Live Lecture Format

Students attending a live lecture will receive training in interviewing witnesses, investigating fact patterns, preparing legal documents, researching the law, and preparing cases for courtroom litigation. Attendees need to be present at 80% of their classes to receive a certificate.

Complete a paralegal course in this format within six weeks. We offer live courses on Saturdays and Sundays, from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM. You may also opt for our Mon-Wed-Sat or Tues-Thurs-Sat type schedules.

Online Paralegal Course

Our online course takes 14 weeks to complete, comprised of two parts: Paralegal I and Paralegal II. Students must take these courses consecutively.

Paralegal I provides a foundation for paralegalism, teaching students the basics of the American judicial system. The course is equivalent to 45 hours of study.

Paralegal II, on the other hand, equips students with a working knowledge of legal authority and its role during litigation.

Complete the course in two, 7-week online sessions. There is a one week break between Paralegal I and II. We offer six online sessions every year.

DVD or Printed-Based Format

The Center for Legal Studies has been offering the paralegal certificate course on DVD for over 30 years. Students who opt for this format may study at their own pace, either in the comfort of their home or office.

Our founder — Scott Hatch, J.D. — is the instructor for the DVD home study paralegal course. He has been offering law programs in the US since 1980.

Students have one calendar year to complete the program.
