Legal Research Requirement

Upon completion of both courses, students will:

  • Explain the elements of and differences between Chapter 7, 11, 12, & 13 bankruptcies
  • Summarize the procedural rules governing bankruptcy law
  • Demonstrate how to prepare bankruptcy documents, including petitions, the statement of financial affairs, schedules, and the order confirming plans
  • Examine the provisions of Chapters 1, 3 & 5 of the Bankruptcy Code
  • Discuss the ethical considerations of practicing bankruptcy law

The Paralegal Certificate Course: Bankruptcy Law specialization topic is offered in three seven-week online sessions.  Students must successfully complete the Core Paralegal Requirements before they take the Bankruptcy Law specialization topic.

Online participants should expect to spend at least 8-12 hours per week reading and preparing assignments and tests. Participants who successfully complete the Paralegal Certificate Course: Bankruptcy Law specialization topic will earn up to 13.5 CEU’s and will receive a specialization certificate of completion from the college or university with which they have registered.
