Our Personal Injury for Paralegals Course will prepare you to plan an integral roles in every case from intake and pre-litigations to trial preparation and settlement. You will learn many of the legal terms, causes of action and remedies available to victims of personal injury accidents. A review of the negligence theory of torts upon which many personal injury claims are based is provided. Students also will discuss interviewing, investigating and other case building techniques vital to a personal injury paralegal’s success in the law office. Class discussions and lesson material will include the different kinds of personal injury claims, including (but not limited to) car accidents, slip and falls, medical negligence/malpractice, manufacturer product defects and class-action lawsuits. Learning outcomes

The Personal Injury for Paralegals course is useful for new entrants to the field of personal injury/tort law, as well as practicing paralegals who want to improve their craft. Graduates of this course will learn many of the legal terms, causes of action, and remedies available to victims of personal injury accidents, and  will be prepared to interview medical witnesses and clients with a narrative of the injury, review medical records and nurses’ notes, prepare summaries of depositions, and observe and identify possible areas of negligence. Students will also learn how to keep and organize a trial notebook, gain an understanding of the concept of products liability, and become familiar with the concept of duty toward the victim.

Do I need a High School Diploma or GED to take CLS courses?

CLS courses are designed for adult students and are taught on a college level. Minimum requirements to take any of our courses are a high school diploma or GED, and to be 18 years of age prior to enrollment.

Can I get financial aid?

Traditional financial aid (Pell grants, Stafford Loans, etc.) usually do not apply to these courses due to their continuing education status. Please view our Payment Options information to explore possible options.
